fansofextrememusic,andthentheyweresubjectedto16minutesof“anger

induction”byhavingthemtodescribeeventsthatmadethemfeelangry.Thatwas

followedby10minutesofeithersileneeorextrememusicselectedfromthe

participants'ownplaylists(theparticipantshadbeenrandomlyassignedtooneortheother).

Asmightbeexpected,thepeoplereportedfeelingangryduringanger

inductionandlesssoduringthemusicandthesilence.Thosewhoseanger

inductionwasfollowedbysileneealsoexperieneedadecreaseinheartrate.But
