LaterthatnightwhilewatchingTV,theoldwomansaidtotheoldman,“Honey,willyoupleasegotothekitchenandgetmeadishoficecream?

Beforetheoldmanleft,sheadded,“Whydon’tyouwritethatdownsoyouwon’tforget?
”
“Nonsense,”saidthehusband,“Icanrememberadishoficecream!
”

Therearemanytechniquesyoucanusetoimproveyourmemory.Someofthemareintroduced

Firstandforemost,youneedtostimulateyourmemoryallthetime.Toputitsimply,youshould
useyourmemoryasmushaspossible.Itisespeciallyimportanttotrytolearnsomethingnew.If
youworkinanoffice,learntodance;ifyouareadancer,learntodealwithacomputer;ifyou
workwithsales,learntoplaychess;ifyouareaprogrammer,learntopaint.Theseadded
activitiesstimulatethebrainsothatitcontinuestofunction.
Olderpeopleneedtopayattentiontothingstheyaredealingwith.Don’ttrytomemorize
everythingthatcatchesyourattention;focusonwhatyouconsiderimportant.Forexample,you
cantakeanyobjectsuchasapenandconcentrateonit.Thinkonitsvariouscharacteristics:
its
material,itsfunction,itscolor,andsoon.Don’tallowanyotherthoughttooccupyyourmind
whileyouareconcentratingonthatpen.
Anothermethodthatcanbeusedistorelaxyourself.Itisimpossibletorememberthingsifyou
aretenseornervous.So,tryholdingyourbreathfortenseconds,andthenreleaseitslowly.
Associationisalsoapowerfultooltodevelopyourmemory.Forexample,ifyoucannot
rememberaperson’sname,youcanthinkaboutaspecialfeatureofhisfaceandthenlinkit
