1.attempt

【课文原句】

attempt为及物动词,意为“试图;企图;尝试”,后常接名词、代词或动词不定式。

例如:

Ididn’tattemptthelastquestionintheexam.

attempt还可以作名词,意为“企图;试图;尝试”。

常与动词make搭配使用,makeanattempttodosth./atsth./atdoingsth.例如:

Imadeanattemptatwinningthefirstprizeinthecontest.

若attempt后接介词on,即attemptonsb./sb’slife,意为“杀人企图”。

2.anxious

anxious为形容词,意为“担忧的,焦虑的;渴望的”。

beanxiousfor/aboutsth./sb.意为“为……担心/担忧”;beanxiousforsth.还意为“渴望得到某物”;beanxioustodosth.意为“渴望做某事”。

例如:

Themotherseemedanxiousforherson.

注意:

anxious后可以接从句,其谓语动词一般为should+动词原形,should可以省略。

例如:

anxiety为名词,意为“焦虑;担心;渴望”。

后可以接about/oversth.意为“焦虑/担心……”;后面接forsth.或todosth时意为“渴望……”。

例如:

anxiously为副词,意为“焦急地”。

3.disappointed

其用法如下:

bedisappointedwith/insb./sth.;

disappointed与disappointing的区别。

disappointed意为“失望的;感到失望的”,用来表达人本身的感觉;disappointing也是形容词,意为“令人失望的”,用来表达某个客体给人的感觉。

simplyput相当于toputitsimply,意为“简单说来”,用作插入语,一般放在句首或句中,通常做总结性状语。

3.takethecreditfor

take/getthecreditfor意为“因……而出名;因……而获得荣誉”。

2)seekout意为“挑选出;找到”。

例如:

单元热点语法

so,not与it的替代用法

1.so或not可替代that从句。

so替代肯定的that从句;not替代否定的that从句,通常与I’mafraid/believe/expect/fear/guess/hope/suppose/think等搭配。

例如:

—Havewegotenoughtime?

—Ithinkso.(=Ithinkwehaveenoughtime.)/Ithinknot.(=Idon’tthinkwehaveenoughtime.)

—Wecan’tfinishtheworkontime.

—Isupposenot.(=Isupposethatwecan’tfinishtheworkontime.)

2.so与not可用来代替if后面的从句,构成ifso/ifnot省略句。

例如:

Areyoufreethisweekend?

Ifso(=Ifyouarefreethisweekend),Iwanttoinviteyoutogotothecinema.

ArethereanybooksaboutLuXuninthelibrary?

Ifnot(=Iftherearenotanybooksinthelibrary),Iwillbuyoneinbookstores.

3.not可与perhaps,possibly,probably,certainly,surely等副词搭配,用来替代句子。

但是so不可以这样用。

例如:

—Areyousatisfiedwithhisidea?

—Certainlynot.(=CertainlyIamnotsatisfiedwithhisidea.)

4.it也可以替代一个句子。

例如:

Ifyoudon’ttryyourbest,you’llregretit.(=youwillregretthatyoudon’ttryyourbest.)
