Theword“counterculture”wascoinedinthe1960’sfortheattitudeandlifestyleofmanyyoungpeoplewhorejectedconventionalsocialvaluesanddemandedmorepersonalfreedom.ThecounterculturefirstaroseintheU.S.duringthe1960’sandsoonspreadtoBritain,Franceandotherwesterncountries.TheseyoungpeoplewereopposedtotheVietnamWaranddissatisfiedwiththeexistingstateofaffairsintheirsociety.Yet,unabletofindamoreconstructivewayofstrugglingagainstthese,theyindulgedthemselvesinsex,drugs,alcoholandrockmusicandtookgreatprideinwearinglonghairsandunusualclothesandintakingupanythingthatwasunconventional.Thecounterculturedeclinedinthelate1970’s.(颓废的一代)
