㈡明孝陵

xiaolingtombofthemingdynasty

xiaolingtombisoneofthemosthistoricalheritageinnanjing,built600yearsago,isthemausoleumofzhuyuanzhang,thefoundingemperorofthemingdynasty.lyingatthesouthernfootofthepurplemountain,thetombcomplexisoneofthelargestancientmausoleumsoftheemperorsinchina.

borninapoorfamilyandlosthisparentswhenhewasachildandbecomeamonk.in1352,hejoinedtheredturbanarmywhichguozixin’sadopteddaughterandbecamethecommandinggenerallater.zhutookovernanjingin1356,andheconqueredtherestofchinainthefollowingyears.in1368,hemadenanjingthenationalcapticalwithanameofmingforhisdynastyandhongwuasthetitleofhisregin.

zhubegantohavehistombbuiltin1381whenhiswifeempressmadied.theconstructionofthemausoleumlasted38yearsormoreuntil1413.
