Lonelinessisgenerallyassociatedwithheartdisease,overweight,andanxiety.Additionally,thestressfromlonelinesscancauseyourcellstochangeonamolecular(分子)levelthatreducesitsabilitiestodefendyourbodyagainstdiseases.Infact,doctorsbelievehavingfeelingsoflonelinessisequivalenttosmoking15cigarettesperdayinregardtoitseffectonhealth!

InBritain,thenewMinisterofLonelinesswillhelpintroducegovernmentpoliciesontheproblemandfundacharity—anorganizationforhelpingpeopleinneed,todevotetheireffortstowardsaidingloneliness.Therearecharitiesthatlinklonelyseniorstohighschoolstudentsinordertogivethemalineofcommunicationwhenevertheyfeellonely!

A2014studyshowedthatthereisadirectcorrelationbetweenthethicknessofthebraincortexandIQscore.Thecortexbeginstothinaftertheageoffiveorsixaspartofthenormalagingprocess.

Thefindingsshowedthat peoplewithasignificantincreaseinIQdidnothavetheexpectedcorticalthinningandpeoplewithasignificantdecreaseinIQhadexaggerated(夸张)cortical(皮质的)thinning.
