ThesequestionsarethefocusofastudybyJacksonLuofMITSloanSchoolofManagementandcolleagues,whosurveyedhundredsofseniorexecutivesandbusiness-schoolstudents.Theyfoundthatwhilediscriminationexists,itisnotdestiny.SouthAsiansenduregreaterracismthanEastAsiansbutstilloutperformevenwhites(ifsuccessisweighedagainstshareofpopulation).Theirresearchalsorulesoutlackofambition:

EventsareplannedinanumberofcountriestomarkWorldNoTobaccoDay.Manyoftheeventsareaimedatpersuadingpeople,especiallytheyoung,nottostartsmoking.Othersaimtoeducatepeopleaboutthemanyhealthbenefitsofgivingupsmoking.
