It’snounderstatementtosaythate-mailhashadaprofoundeffectonourprofessionalandpersonallives.Peoplethousandsofmilesawayfromeachothercansendandreceivedetaileddocumentswithinmereseconds.Thisallowsustotakeonprojectsthatwouldn’thavebeenpracticalorpossibleonlyafewyearsago.Ithasbecomeroutineforustocorrespondandexchangefileswithpeopleoverseas.Theonlyobstacleisthedifferenceintimezones.
Butontheotherhand,e-mailcaneatupasubstantialportionofourworkday.Mostofthetimeandeffortinvolvedisgoingthroughunsolicitedmessagesandseparatingthegoodfromthebad.Butnotallunsolicitedmessagesarespam.
