TheIssueofEmploymentforGraduates
Nowadays,moreandmoreuniversitygraduatescomplainthatitisdifficultforgraduationtofindasatisfactoryjob.
Aboutadecadeago,universitystudentscouldfindsatisfactoryandenviablejobsaftergraduation,whilethethingsarequitedifferentatpresent.
Becauseoftheworkingpressure,wehadtoacceptthejobwhichisnotveryrelatedtoourmajorordoesnotadapttous.Mostseriousofall,somestillhavenoideawheretogoworkingevenalongtimeaftergraduation.accordingtostatistics,about30%ofgraduatestudentscan’tfindajobbutstayathomeaftergraduation.
Employmentbecomesamajorsocialissueinourcountry.Moreandmorepeoplepaygreatattentiontoit.
Accordingasurvey,from2010to2011,theaverageemploymentrateofcollegegraduateshasalwaysbeenaround70%.Comparedwithforeigncountries,theemploymentrateinourcountryisreallylow.Thatistosay,everyyearthereare30%ofthegraduatescannotfindajob.Ithasbecomeaserioussocialproblemtowhichshouldbepaidgreatattention.
Whatisthecauseofthisphenomenon?
Inmyopinion,Thereasonsforthisphenomenonarevarious.First,graduateslackworkexperience.Theyspendmostoftheirtimeatschoolstudyingacademicsubjects,buthavefewjobtraining.Onlyaftergraduationdotheyrealizeitishardtofindjobswithahighgrade.
Second,competitionamonggraduatesisgrowing,thejobmarketgetsshrinking,butjobswhichsocietyprovidedislimited.Therearemoresupplyofuniversitygraduatesthansocialdemand.Thisresultsinadecreasedchanceforeachindividualgraduatetofindajob.
Third,somestudentsdon’tstudyhard.Becauselotsofstudentshavenointerestintheircertainsubjects.Someplaycomputergames,Somesleepinclass.Theywouldnotwenttothelibraryunlessfinalexamwascoming.
Inaddition,somegraduatesareconceited.Theythinkthesalaryissolowthattheydon'twanttodothejob,theyexcepttofindaveryeasyworkwithahighersalary.
Forexample,infact,somecompaniesrefusedtousegraduatesfromQinghuauniversityandPekinguniversity.becausetheylacktheabilitytoworkinteam.Theythinktheyarebrilliantpeople:

Actually,graduateswhoareoutstandingismorethanyouknow,however,ifyouwanttogetajob,onlyhaveprofessionalknowledgeisnotenough.
Chinahasapopulationofnearly1.4billion,andisthemostpopulouscountryintheworld.TosolvetheemploymentissueinChinaisapressingtask.
Inviewofthefundamentalinterestsofitspeople,theChinesegovernmentrecognizestheimportanceoftheissueofemployment.BasedontheConstitutionofthePeople'sRepublicofChina,theLaborLawofthePeople'sRepublicofChina,andotherlawsandregulations,theChinesegovernmenthasprotectedtheworkers'righttoemployment,andadoptedvariouspoliciesandmeasurestopromoteemploymentactivelyandsteadilymeettheirneedsforemployment.
Asaresult,theemploymentstructurehasgraduallybeenoptimized;theavenuesforemploymenthavebeensteadilybroadened;theformsofemploymenthavebecomemoreflexibleandtheemploymentsituationhasbeenmaintainedbasicallystable.
InChina,thereisalargeworking-agepopulation,whiletheaverageeducationallevelofthepeopleisrelativelylow,resultinginaveryprominentproblemofunemployment.
Thisisprimarilymanifestedintheco-existenceofthecontradictionofthetotalvolumeofworkforcesupplyanddemandandthecontradictionofemploymentstructure,inthesimultaneousappearanceofincreasingpressureonurbanemploymentandaccelerationoftheshiftofsurplusrurallaborerstonon-agriculturalsectors,andintheintertwiningoftheemploymentproblemfornewentrantstotheworkforceandthatofthereemploymentforlaid-offworkers.
Aswekown,thousandsofhandsarefightingforonechair,whichrepresentsapublicofficial’sposition.Thisphenomenonrevealsthe“jobhunting”problemintoday’ssociety.
Employmenthasgotinadilemma,whichattractsourgreatattention.Ononehand,severeemploymentsituationsetsmountainsofdifficultiesforgraduatestudentstofindajob,Whileontheotherhand,luredbyitscomfortableworkingenvironmentsandconsiderablesalaries,moreandmoregraduatesbecomecrazyforofficialposition.
Thedilemmareflectsatleasttwospecificproblemsinouremploymentmarket.Withthehurriedpacestoadjusttheindustrialstructures,weshouldregulateouremploymentstructuressothatwecanmakebalancebetweenthesupplyandtheneedinhumanresources.
Whatiselse,graduates’valuesonchoosingajobshouldbeadvanced.Asthenewconstructiongroups,graduatesshouldchoosetheircareeraccordingtotheircompetencesandburdenthesocialresponsibilityinsteadofseekingforenjoyableposition.Withtheeffortswemake,thechallengesofemploymentwillbecomethechancesofnewgenerations.
Inordertobeastrongercompetitorinthebattle,wemusttrainourselvestobecomeatypeof"T"talent.sopressureisnotonlyanobstaclebutalsoamotivity.
So,universitystudentsshouldtrytheirbesttochangethissituation.Whentheyareinschool,theyshouldmakethemostoftheirtimeandputtheirheartintotheirstudies.
Theycanholdpart-timejobsintheirsparetimetoaccumulaterelevantworkexperience.Theyshouldtakepartinsomesocialactivitiesandprovidethemselveswithspecialtraining,ifpossible.Whentheygraduateandapplyforjobs,theyshouldattachmoreimportancetoaccumulatingexperiencethantotheirstartingsalary.
Aboveall,collegestudentsshouldrealizetheirowndefectsandfurtherimprovethemselvestokeeptheircompetitiveedgeinsociety.Moreover,collegesoruniversitiesshouldprovidemoretrainingsandinternshipopportunitiesbeforethestudentsenterthesociety.Collegestudentsshouldholdarightattitudetowardsjobsandsettheirjobexpectationsatasuitablelevel.
Besides,Ireckonthisproblemcanbesolvedifbothcollegesandstudentstakemeasures.Firstofall,theyshouldresearchthemarketanddevelopspecialskillstosuititsneed.
Second,students’attitudetowardsemploymentshouldbechanged.Theyshouldgotosmallcitiesandcountry.Theretheycanalsogivefullplaytotheirprofessionalknowledge.Inaword,ifwepaymuchattention,thesituationcanbeimproved.

Forexample,Establishingavocationaltrainingsystem.VocationaltraininginChinaincludespre-employmenttraining,trainingforpeopletransferredtonewoccupations,apprenticetrainingandon-the-jobtraining,coveringelementary,intermediary,andadvancedvocationalqualificationtrainingfortechniciansandothertypesoftrainingtohelppeopleadapttodifferentjobrequirements.
Improvingthesocialsecuritysystem,andmaintainingharmoniousandstablelaborrelations.Establishingthe"threeguarantees"system.In1998,theChinesegovernmentestablishedthesystemof"threeguarantees,"namely,guaranteeofbasicsubsistenceallowanceforlaid-offsfromstate-ownedenterprises,guaranteeofunemploymentinsurance,andguaranteeofminimumsubsistenceallowanceforurbanresidents.
Reemploymentservicecentershavebeenwidelyestablishedinstate-ownedenterprisesthathavelaid-offworkers.Laid-offworkersmayobtainfundsforbasicdailynecessitiesforamaximumofthreeyearsfromsuchcenters.Afterthethree-yeartermexpires,laid-offworkersandotherunemployedpeoplewhohavenotbeenreemployedoremployedandwhohaveunemploymentinsurancecoverageandpaidthepremiumsinfullareentitledtounemploymentinsurancepayforamaximumoftwoyears.
Iftheaverageincomeperheadinanurbanresidentialhouseholdofalaid-offorunemployedpersonislowerthanthelocalminimumsubsistencestandard,thatpersonisentitledtotheminimumsubsistenceallowanceforurbanresidents.Duetothe"threeguarantees"system,thesubsistenceallowance,socialsecurityandreemploymentforlaid-offpersonsarenowcloselyconnected.
Anotherway,Guaranteeingwomen'srighttoequalemployment.TheConstitutionofthePRC,theLaborLawofthePRC,andtheLawofthePRConSafeguardingWomen'sRightsandInterestsallcontainspecialprovisionsforsafeguardingwomen'srighttoemployment.Thestateprotectswomen'sequalrightwithmentowork,eliminatessexualdiscriminationinemployment,adoptstheprincipleofequalpayforequalworkforbothsexes,andguaranteesspeciallaborprotectionforwomenemployeesduringmenstruation,pregnancy,confinementandnursing.
Today,thereare41.56millionwomenemployeesinurbanunits,accountingfor38percentofthetotalemployeesinurbanunits.AstheChinesegovernmentpushesaheadwiththereformoftheeconomicsystemandthereadjustmentoftheeconomicstructure,anumberofwomenworkershavebeenlaidoff.Tosupportthereemploymentoflaid-offwomen,especiallyolderwomen,governmentsatalllevelshaveactivelydevelopedandexpandedtradesandfieldssuitableforwomentoworkin,andhaveadoptedmoreflexibleformsofemploymenttoprovidethemwithjobopportunitiesaccordingtotheirneeds.
Promotingtheemploymentofyoungpeopleisalsoimportant.Chinahasalargeyoungpopulation.Everyyear,amillion-strongnewwor
