Thirty-sixchimpanzeestookpartinthisexperimentonebyone,andnochimpanzeesawwhattheotherchimpanzeeshaddone.Eventhoughtheanimalshadn’tm5thepersonbefore,theyusuallytookthestickandgaveittotheperson.What’smore,theydidthiswhetherornotthepersonofferedthembananasasareward.

Inthenextexperiment,36childrenactedinas6way.Theyhelpedthepersonreachthestick,whetherornottheywereofferedtoysfortheirhelp.
