  Benefitsinlearningaforeignlanguage

  Nevertheless,learningaforeignlanguageoffersseveralpossiblebenefits.Someofthecommonlystatedbenefitsare:

  ●Enrichesourunderstandingofourownlanguage,bybringinggrammaticalstructuresandwordrootsintosharperfocus.ThismaybeespeciallytruewhenstudyinglanguagesthatsharelinguisticelementswithEnglish.

Linguisticadventure

  Ithinkthesearegoodreasons,soIwantedtoprovidemychildrenwithsomeexposuretoforeignlanguages.ButwhatlanguageshouldIteach?

ItookfouryearsofFrenchinhighschool(andgotstraightA's),butIneverreachedanyrealleveloffluency,andIhaveretainedverylittleofthesmallamountofFrenchIonceknew.IsthereanylanguagethatIcouldrealisticallylearn/teachalongsidemychildren?

  Esperantowasinventedin1887byL.L.Zamenhof,aPolishphysician. Invented?

Yes,that'sright,Esperantowasinvented.Zamenhof'svisionwasthatEsperantowouldbecometheworld'ssecondtongue,breakingdownlanguagebarriersinEuropeandthroughouttheworld.Obviously,Esperantohasnot(yet?
