OnehundredyearsafterAbnerDoubledayinventedbaseballinCooperstown,NewYork,in1839,LittleLeaguegotstartedinPennsylvania.Threemenstartedthegameforneighborhoodboyswithasmallerplayingfieldandfewerinnings(局)thanadultbaseball.LittleLeaguebecamepopularafterWorldWarⅡwhenthegamespreadacrosstheUnitedStates.By1955itwasplayedthroughoutNorthAmericaandwithinfiveyearsithadspreadtoEurope.Children'sbaseballreallycaughtoninJapanandTaiwanofChinaandteamsfromthoseareaswontheWorldSeriessevenoutofeightyears.Afterthis,theorganizationtriedbanningforeignteamsfromtheWorldSeries,butthebancametoanendafteroneyear.
