Forthepast15years,factoryownerKamalParmarhasbeenrunninganafter-schoolprogramforslumkidsinAhmedabad,India,helpingthemwithbasicskillslikereadingandwritingandevenpreparingfortheirschooltests.

Theexpandingcoverage,however,maynotguaranteemoreresidentswillbeofferedqualitymedicalservices.

Familydoctorsinsomeplacesrarelyvisitthefamiliestheyareassignedto,andsomeofthemhavebeenstrugglingtosolvepatientsproblemseitherbecauseoftheirunfitnessorbecausetheyhavetoomanyhouseholdstoattendto.Insomecases,afamilydoctormightbeassignedtoseehundredsofresidentsaday.
