NubiangiraffesareUganda'sonlygiraffespeciesandmostoftheminhabitMurchisonFalls."Wecan'thavealloureggsinonebasket,"Aruhosays,“Wehaveauniqueopportunitytoactnowtopreventthemdyingout.”

Backin2015,theUWAmoved15NubiangiraffesfromMurchisonFallstoLakeMburoNationalPark.Afterthat,9ofthe10femalesquicklybecamepregnant.Fromalittleover300Nubiangiraffesinthemid1990sinUgandatherearenowabout1,650.Afurther25giraffeswillmovefromMurchisontoPianUpeinOctober2020.

“InUgandawecontinuetoworkcloselywiththeUWAtoincreasenumbersandpopulationsofthreatenedNubiangiraffes.Boostingexistingpopulationsisvitalforsecuringtheirfutureinthecountry,"Aruhosays.
