However,theconsiderationisnotamustforthosepeopleopiningthatallthetoddlersorteenagers,regardlessoftheirintrinsicallygifts,canbetaughttopickuptheprofessionsofsportsandmusicastheirlifetimecareers.

Personally,Ibelievethatallthepeople,possessingourrespectiveandincomparableassets,likethelongarmsofRafaelNadalortheawe-inspiringvoiceofFergie,arebornmostsuitablyformerelydefinedoccupations.Inotherwords,arenownedtennisplayerlikeNadalhasfewchancestoaccomplishtheachievementofFergieasasinger,andviceversa.Nonetheless,itmustbeadmittedthatthegeneralityofpersonsareequallypraiseworthyindealingwiththemissionslikeplayingtennisorsingingaspastime,iftheyareappraisedasamateurs,ratherthanmasters.Whereas,whenitcomestowinningthechampionshipofAustralianOpenorGrammyAward,itwouldbedifferentformostofus,nomatterhowhardwehavetried.

itcanreducetrafficdensityandhencespeeduptheflowofbusesandcars.(6)Buttrafficflowsconstantlyrisetofillwhateverscaleofroadsandhighwaysareprovidedforthem.(7)Andinacitywithboomingindustry,landispreciousandcannotbeextravagantlyusedfortraffic.(8)Soothersarguethatthenumberofbicyclesandcarsshouldbelimitedwhilemorebusroutesshouldbeopenedupbecausebusescanaccommodatemorepassengers.(9)Butthedecreaseinthenumberofbicyclesandcarsmightgiverisetoanothernewsetofproblems,suchasinconveniencetopeople.(10)Sinceneitherofthesuggestionscaneffectivelysolvetheproblemofheavytraffic,thereisanincreasedawarenessthatthetwosolutionsmaybecombinedwithotherpossiblesolutionstoproducethebesteffect

Whatisthedifferencebetweenthelecturesystemandthediscussionsystem---thetwoteachingmethodsprevalentoncampusbothathomeandabroad?

Asasenior,itisnotverydifficultformetotell.Theyhavebothstrengthsandweaknesses.Manystudentslikethelecturesystembecauseithelpstolearnquicklyandmuchmore.Attendingawell-preparedlectureisamostrewardingexperiencebecauseitcanopenanewhorizonforyouandsaveyoumuchtimeaswell—timeyoumightotherwisespendreadingonebookafteranother.Yetthefaultofthelecturesystemisthatitcultivatesabadhabitofpassivelearning.Studentsbringtheirnotebooksandeventaperecorderstoclasstowriteeverythingdownwithoutthinkingforthemselves,letaloneraiseanyquestion.Onthecontrarythediscussionsystemencouragesstudentstoformtheirownideasandopinions.Toengageinfrequentandevenheateddebate,youhavetodoalotofhomeworkbeforehand,findanswersyourselvesandthusyoudeveloptheanalyticalskillswhichbenefitbothyouracademiccareerandyourfuturelife.However,italsohasitsweakness:

WillPhonesKillLetterWriting?

 Youngpeoplenowadaystendtophoneeachothermoreoftenthanwritetoeachother.Thatleadssomepeopletotheworrythatphoneswillkillletterwriting.Asamatteroffact,theworryisgroundless.Inmyview,phoneswillneverkillletterwriting.

      Justaslibrariesorshopsinthecyberspacecanneverreplacetheactualones,phonecallswillneverkillletterwriting.Theyareonlyanothermeanstotransmitinformationorexpressfeelings.Althoughphonecallshaveadvantagesoverletterwriting,forexample,theyaremuchfasterandpeoplecanalsohearthevoice,solettersareirreplaceable.Firstofall,theyaremuchcheaperthanphonecalls.Secondly,theyconveyinformationaccurately.Thirdly,unlikephonecalls,letterscanbekeptandre-read.

      Basedontheaboveanalysis,Ifeelsafetosayletterwritingcanneverbereplacedbyphonecalls,thoughwefindadwindlingnumberofletterwritersthesedays.

WillTourismBringHarmtotheEnvironment?

  Inrecentyears,tourismhasdevelopedrapidlyinChina.Manypeoplebelievethattourismproducepositiveeffectsoneconomicgrowthandweshouldtryourbesttopromotetourism.Butwhatthesepeoplefailtoseeisthattourismmaybringaboutadisastrousimpactonourenvironment.Asforme,I’mfirmlyconvincedthattoomuchtouristsbringharmtotheenvironment.

  Thebadimpactoftourismontheenvironmenthasmainlyexpresseditselfinvariousways.Onewayistheprocessofexploitinganewscenicspot.Inordertoattracttourists,alotofartificialfacilitieshavebeenbuilt,whichhavecertainunfavorableeffectsontheenvironment.Thisprocessusuallybreakstheecologicalbalanceofthearea.Insomemountainousplaces,treesarebeingcutdowntobuildhotelsforotherstoseeandexplorethebeautyofthemountains.Thenlandslidesandmud-rockflowscomeup.Anotherwaythedevelopmentoftourismhasdamagedtheenvironmentoccurswhentouristsgotoscenicspots.Sometouristsdon’thavetheawarenesstoprotecttheenvironment,andignorantlythrowtheirgarbagehereandthere.Somepeopleevenkillthelocalwildlifetoeat,whichbadlydamagesthebalanceofthenaturalenvironment.

  Itiswrongtosacrificetheenvironmentforthegrowthoftourism.Wemustkeepinmindthattoomuchtouristsbringharmtotheenvironment.Weneedtofindabalancebetweensatisfyingtheneedsoftouristsandreducingtoaminimumthepollutiontheycause.
