In1830SnowbecameamemberoftheTemperanceMovement,andlivedforadecadeorsoasavegetarian(素食者)andteetotaler.Inthemid-1840shishealthdecreased,andhereturnedtomeat-eatinganddrinkingwine.Hekeptdrinkingpurewater(viaboiling)throughouthisadultlife.Henevermarried.
SnowsufferedastrokewhileworkinginhisLondonofficeon10June1858.Hewas45yearsoldatthetime.Heneverrecovered,dyingon16June1858.HewasburiedinBromptonCemetery.
