Abstract
Agreatdealofresearchachievementsonlocalizationinwirelesssensornetworks(WSNs)hasbeenobtainedinrecentyears.Nevertheless,itsinterestingchallengesintermsofcost-reduction,accuracyimprovement,scalability,anddistributedabilitydesignhaveledtothedevelopmentofanewalgorithm,thePush–pullEstimation(PPE).Inthisalgorithm,thedifferencesbetweenmeasurementsandcurrentcalculateddistancesaremodeledintoforces,draggingthenodesclosetotheiractualpositions.Basedonveryfewknown-locationsensorsorbeacons,PPEcanpervasivelyestimatethecoordinatesofmanyunknown-locationsensors.Eachunknown-locationsensor,withgivenpair-wisedistances,couldindependentlyestimateitsownpositionthroughremarkablyuncomplicatedcalculations.Characteristicsofthealgorithmareexaminedthroughanalysesandsimulationstodemonstratethatithasadvantagesoverthoseofpreviousworksindealingwiththeabovechallenges.
