SomeNativeAmericansopposedtheproject.TheysaidHenryStandingBearhadnoauthoritytoinviteKorczaktocarvethemonument,andthatitwasdesecrating(亵渎)theBlackHills.Korczakworkedonthemountainforyearsanddiedin1982,16yearsbeforethegiantfaceofCrazyHorsewascompletedin1998.
