Thesuccessresultednotfrom“cleaneating”orcoconutoil,butfromfollowingstandardadviceforahealthy,balanceddiet.Asanaddedbonus,theparticipantsspentalittlelessonfoodthantheydidontheiroriginaldiets–andprobablyendedupwithbiggerbrains,too.Ina2015studyof250olderAustralians,Jackafoundthatthelesshealthytheirdiets,thesmallertheirlefthippocampuses（thebrainregionlinkedwithemotionalregulationandmentalhealth）;thefindingwasmorerecentlyrepeatedintheNetherlandswith4,000olderadults.
