TheBeijingchildren’sWelfareHome,setupsoonafterNewChinawasfoundedin1949,hasatpresentmorethan400children.

Aleadingofficialofthewelfareinstitutionsaidthatthechildrenliveahappylifeandthattheagencyspends400—500yuanamonthforanaverageorphan.AnaverageChineseworkersearned440yuanamonthduringthefirstquarterthisyear.

GuXiaojin,deputysecretary-generaloftheChinaYouthDevelopmentFoundation(CYDF),saidpeoplefromallwalksoflifehavecontributedtothewelfareoftheChinesechildren.
