RoseandMorriSon'sstudy,whichistobepublishedinSocialPsychologicalandPerSonalityScience,issignificantinthatitsurveyedawiderangeoftheAmericanpublic,includingpeopleof

allagesandsocio-economicandeducationalbackgrounds.Previousstudiesonregrethavefocused

largelyoncollegestudents,whopredictablytendtohaveeducation-focusedregrets,likewishingtheyhadstudiedharderoradifferentmajor.Thenewsurveyshowsthatinthelargerpopulation,aperson's"lifecircumstances--accomplishments,shortcomings,situationinlife--injectconsiderablefuelintothefiresofregret,"theauthorswrite.
