     SouthKoreaseducationsystemhaslongbeenhighlycompetitive.ButforLeeandtheother700,000high-schoolsophomoresinthecountry,high-schoolstudieshavegottenevenmoreintense.ThatsbecauseSouthKoreahasconceivedanewcollege-entrancesystem,whichwillbeimplementedin2008.Thisyears10thgraderswillbethefirstgroupevaluatedbythenewadmissionsstandard,whichplacesmoreemphasisongradesinthethreeyearsofhighschoolandlessonnationwideSAT-styleandotherselectiontests,whichhavetraditionallydeterminedwhichstudentsgototheelitecolleges.

     ParentsandkidshavesentthousandsofangryonlineletterstotheEducationMinistrycomplainingthatthenewadmissionsstandardissettingstudentsagainsteachother."Onecansucceedonlywhenothersfail,”asoneparentsaid.
