Thecontentandqualitiesofagoodsoftwarerequirementsspecification（SRS）arede-scribedandseveralsampleSRSoutlinesarepresented.Thisrecommendedpracticeisaimedatspecifyingrequirementsofsoftwaretobedevelopedbutalsocanbeappliedtoassistintheselec-tionofin-houseandcommercialsoftwareproducts.GuidelinesforcompliancewithIEEE/EIA12207.1-1997arealsoprovided.Keywords:
