Asongisacombinationofmusicandlyricswithmanyculturalelements.Itplaysanimportantroleinartisticcommunication.HowtotranslateEnglishlyricsintoChineseisanimportanttopic.ThisworkfocusesonthetranslationofEnglishlyricstoChinesefromtheperspectiveofSkopostheorytoprovidelistenerswithagoodatmosphereoflistening,betterunderstandingsofthethemesandartisticconceptionofEnglishsongs.Thetheoreticalguidanceforthelyricstranslationisalsoprovided.Inaddition,thebasicprinciplesandtheoriesoflyricstranslation,whichcanhelpdirectthetranslationworkandimprovethequalityoflyricstranslation,aresummarizedinthisthesis.

I.Introduction
Lifeiscolorful,peacefulandpassionatewithmusic.Englishmusicofdifferentformsiseasilyfoundinbookstoresandontheinternetwiththedevelopmentofinformationandtechnology.AstheamountofEnglishsongsimportedtoChinahaskeptanincreasingtrendduringthelastdecade,ChinesepeoplecanenjoyEnglishsongsfromforeigncountries.Withfrequentinternationalexchanges,musicisveryimportantinglobalcommunicationasanindispensablepartoftheculture.Musiciswithoutborders,regardingthesongastheessentialcarriertopromoteculturalexchange.Songsarespecialculturalexchangeactivities,notaplainlanguagetransformation.Thetranslationinthetargetlanguageshouldmeetthetargetlanguageculture,aesthetichabits,thatis,ChinesetranslationofEnglishlyricsforsongsshouldbeoverwhelminglyunderstoodbyChinesepeople.Thepurposeoftranslationisunique.Themeanstoanendarealsodifferent,asaretheprinciplesofguidingtranslation.Songarecombinationsoflanguageandmusic,bearingtheweightofthecultureofmanyfactors.Asaresult,howtotranslateEnglishlyricsintofluentChineselyricsisabigchallengeforthetranslators.
ThispaperisaboutastudyofthetranslationofEnglishlyricstoChinesefromtheperspectiveoffunctionalisttranslationtheory.Theapplicationoffunctionaltranslationtheoryinlyricstranslationisanalyzedandthatthetranslatorsmaytrytoconveythethemeoftheoriginaltextisemphasizedtokeepthegenreoftheoriginaltextandtocompensateculturaldifferences.Ontheonehand,theauthorattemptstoseekamoresystematictheoreticalframeworkforEnglishlyricstranslation.Ontheotherhand,theauthoralsoanalyzesthebasicprinciplesandmethodsoflyricstranslationtoguidethetranslationpracticetoincreasethequalityoflyricstranslation.Atthesametime,thethesisgivesahopetoprovidehelpfulcluesandideasforthefurtherstudyonEnglishlyricstranslation.
Lyricstranslationhasnotbeenpaidgreatattentionbytranslatorssincethe1980s.Forthestandardoflyricstranslation,translationisnotinapositiontoreachaconsensus.Lyricstranslationisofgreatdifficultiesandtheaccumulationoftranslationpracticeandresearchforthoseengagedinthelyricstranslationhasbeenfarreached.Inviewoftheroleofsongsinthemodernsociallife,lyricstranslationdeservesattention.ThispaperthroughtheperspectiveoffunctionaltranslationtheoryofEnglishlyricstranslation,includingthetranslationprinciplesandmethodstoguidethetranslationpracticeandmakethetranslationofEnglishlyricstoChineseexpresstheconnotationoftheoriginallyrics.

Chinahasalonghistoryoftranslation.TherecordedhistoryoftranslationcanbedatedbacktoasearlyastheEastHandynastyduringEmperorMing’sreign(58-75AD)(ZhangZhiqiang,1997:
2).InChina’slongfeudalages,withsomanyminoritiesspeakingdifferentlanguagesandlivingtogether,culturalexchangesamongpeopleandforeigncountriesshouldhavebeenwidespreadtoalargescale.Unfortunately,comparedwiththelongrecordedhistoryoftranslation,China’srecordedsong-translationhistorycanbeonlydatedbackto100yearsago.
