INTRODUCTION

Thiseditionsupersedesthe“WIRINGREGULATIONSFORELECTRICALINSTALLATIONSANDAPPROVEDCODEOFPRACTICEINDUBAI”issuedintheyear1985bythethenDUBAIELECTRICITYCOMPANY.

Theobjectoftheregulationsistoprovideconsultants,contractors,wiremenandconsumerswithageneralguideforcompliancewithDEWArequirementsforelectricalinstallationsinordertosafeguardpersonsandpropertyfromhazardsarisingfromtheuseofelectricity.Theregulations,however,notneithertosubstitutedetailedspecificationsnortoserveasaninstructionmanualforuntrainedpersons.Itisessentialthatallconsultants,contractorsandwiremenstudyandabidebytheseregulations.This,ofcourse,doesnotabsolvetheconcernedpartiesfromobtainingothernecessaryapprovalsfromDEWA.

SomeofthepracticesfollowedgenerallyintheAGCCcountrieshavebeenadaptedasappropriate.Referencesaregenerallymadetothe16thEditionoftheIEEwiringRegulations.Britishstandards（BSS）andInternationalElectroTechnicalCommission（IEC）documents.Considerationhasbeengiventothepreventionoffireandshockhazardsaswellasproperoperationandmaintenanceofwiringinstallationsandequipments.
