Translationisanimportantpartinspreadinginternationalnewsanditincreasinglyattractspeople’sattention.Inrecentyears,thenumberoftheachievementsinnewstranslationisincreaseprogressivelyandatthesametimethescopeofthestudiesisbroaderthanbefore.Classifyandsummarytheobjectives,thoughtsandmethodsandfinallybuildupatheoryframethattranslatorscanfollowtheserules.Andthenewresearcherwillbeeasiertoknowtheirownpositionandfindaproperwayinthespecificstudy.

Therearesomefeaturesinnewstranslationinrecentyears’research.First,thenumberofthethesisisobviouslygrowing.Teachersandstudentsfromcollegesbegintopayattentiontonewstranslation.Second,periodicalsandtheresearchersonnewstranslationarealsoincreasing.From1979to2006foreignlanguageperiodicalstakeupmostproportionswhileperiodicalsaboutnewsonlyhaveseveralpassages.Since2007,periodicalsaboutnewshaveincreasedyearbyyear.Meanwhilethewritersarefrommanykindsofvocationssuchasjournalists,editors,teachersandstudents,governmentdepartmentofglobalcommunicationandpublishinghouse.Third,newstranslationinminoritylanguagesisgrowinginnumberandscope.From1979to2006thereareonly5passagesthatarerelatedtonewstranslationofminoritylanguages.Whileinrecent5yearsthenumberofthepassagesreaches13.Besides,thethemeoftheseresearchesiswider.

Manytranslationtheoriescanbeusedinnewstranslationsuchasfunctionaltheoryoftranslation,relevancetheoryandsoon.Functionaltheorylaysstressonthefunctionofthetranslation,thetargetlanguagereaders,andthebackgroundofthetwolanguages.Thistheoryisbecomingmoreandmorepopularandthroughselectivetranslation,translatingandeditingandotherskills,translatorsmakenewstranslationmorereadableandclear.

Newshasitsownfeatures,sothetranslationofnewsislimitedbymanyelements.Soinrecentyears’researches,manynewtheoriesappearforinstance,adaptationtheory,eco-translation,andcommunicationtheory.Also,somecommonperiodicalsprovidelotsofhighqualityresearchpapersaboutnewstranslationtoreaders.

Newsreportsaretimelyandfaithful.Differentlanguagesandculturesmakenewstranslationhaveitsownfeatures.Therefore,newstranslationcannotentirelyabidebythetraditionalstandardsoftranslation.Thereisamultiplicityofviewsonthequestionthatwhichtranslationprincipalscanbeusedinnewstranslation.Researchersanalyzemanyconditionsandclassifyintodetailedones.Forexample,researchersconcludethefunctionsofnewsheadline,leadandbody.Indifferentpart,translatorswillusedifferentmethodstotranslatethenews.Atthebeginning,newstranslationpaysmoreattentiononthefaithfulness,thatistosaytranslatethenewsusingthemethodofliteraltranslation.Whilewiththedevelopmentofnewstranslation,paraphraseoftencanbeseeninnewstranslation.Alsothetranslationismorereadableandlaystressonthetargetlanguagereaders.

Throughresearchesonnewstranslationcriticism,theresearcherssummarizethequalitiesofnewstranslatorsandtheshortagesofnewsreports.Andtheseresearcheshavepracticalguidancetonewstranslationandmakegreatcontributiontothefurtherstudyofnewstranslation.

Comparedtotheformerresearches,therecentresearchesaretheoreticgeneralizationandgivenewstranslatorsanorientation.Before2007,newstranslationcriticismisaweaklink.Theresearchachievementsarerelevantlyless,besidesthescopeoftheresearchismainlyaboutthemistranslatinginnewstranslation.Intherecent5yearsthissubjecthasattractedmanyresearchers’attentionandtherangeisextensive.Researcherssummarizethereasonthatleadtothemistranslatingofnewsincludingmisunderstandingthenews,translatingnewsrigidlyandsoon.Andthensomeresearchespresentthatdifferentideologieswillhaveinfluencesonnewstranslation.Inordertosuitthemainconsciousnessandtheaesthetichabitsoftargetlanguagereaders,translatorsusethestrategiesofforeignizing.

Researchesonnewstranslationbecometheorizationatpresent.Whileviewingfromtheresearchcontentsanddegree,therearealsomanylimitations.Inviewoftherecentstudyresults,theoriesofthenewstranslationbadlyneedtobestrengthenedandsodothesystematicresearchesonnewstranslationtheories.Second,theformsofresearchandtheconversationoflanguagesaremonotonous.FurthermorenewstranslationinChinaislagging.Newstranslationisnotregardedasanindependentsubjectbutusuallyjustasapartofthetranslation.Itcannotgetmuchattention.Aresearcheronnewstranslationshouldrecognizethefeaturesofnewstranslationanddosystematicresearchsoastofindthelawofnewstranslation.Lastbutnotleastnewstranslationislackoftheguidanceofmethodology.Mostoftheresearchmethodsaregettingfromtheformerexperienceandsomecomments.

Ingeneral,newstranslationstartedlateinourcountrysomostofthematerialsaretheachievementsintwentynineties.Howeverinrecent20years,especiallysincethenewcenturyresearcher’attentiononthisfieldisobviouslyenhanced.Thenewstranslationtheories,translationcriticism,translationprincipalsandotheraspects,allofthesehavesomebreakthroughs.Mostoftheresearchersintegratethetheorywithpracticeandregardingtherealityasthestartingpoint.Thiscanlayagoodfoundationforfurtherstudy.

Abstract

Newstranslationisaveryimportantwayofspreadingnews.Readerscangetmoreinformationabouttherestoftheworld.Thesourceofthenewstranslationisbroadbutitrequirestranslatorstograspthemainideaofthenewsaccuratelyinlimitedtime.Thisisachallengingjobfortranslators.Newstranslationisnotonlytranslatingonelanguageintoanotherlanguagebutalsoitcontainstherelevantculturalbackground.Translatorsshouldtranslatetheoriginalnewsaccuratelyandclearly.Meanwhiletheyshouldthinkofthetargetlanguagereaders.Thisthesisintroducesthefeaturesofnewsandthefundamentalcontentsofnews.Furthermore,thethesislaysstressonviewingnewstranslationinculturalperspectiveandthetranslationmethodsusedinnewstranslationsoastomakenewstranslationmoreprofessional.

Thenewstranslationisanimportantpartinspreadingtheinternationalnews.Owingtothereformingandtheopeninguppolicy，Chinahasacloserelationshipwiththerestofworld,sohavingagoodknowledgeofthefastestandlatestnewsoftheworldisessential.NewstranslationisaveryimportantwayforChinesepeopletogettheinformationofthewholeworld.Nowadaysalmost80%ofthenewsiswritteninEnglish.AndmostpeopleinChinacannotreadEnglishnewsdirectly,soEnglishnewstranslationisapressingmatterofthemoment.
