1Introduction

ThispackmustbeusedinconjunctionwithacopyoftheGradedUnitspecificationwhichdetailsthestandardofperformanceexpectedofthecandidate.AcopyoftheGradedUnitspecificationcanbeobtainedfromSQA.

ThispacksupplementstheinstructionsfordesigningtheassessmenttaskandassessingcandidatesoftheGradedUnitspecification.Itaimstoprovideanexampleofassessmentthatisvalid,reliableandpracticable.Theassessmenttask（s）detailedinthispackcorrespondstotheinstructionsfordesigningtheassessmenttaskoutlinedintheGradedUnitspecification.

Theexampleprovidedisintendedforguidanceonly.Itmaybeusedinavarietyofwaysincluding,forexample:

♦toexemplifythestandardofperformanceexpectedofcandidatesachievingtheGradedUnit,ieasabenchmark

♦tohelpyoudevelopyourownassessmentfortheGradedUnit

Introduction

TheScottishQualificationsAuthority’ssystemofassessmentmeasurestheevidenceofacandidate’sattainmentofknowledge,understandingandskillsagainstdefinedcriteria.Theassessmentprocessmustallowforevidenceofeachcandidate’sperformancetobegeneratedandcollected.ThisevidencemustthenbejudgedagainstthestandardssetoutintheGradedUnitspecification.ToachievetheGradedUnitthecandidatemustsuccessfullymeetthestandardsandtheremustbeevidencetoprovethis.

TheGradedUnitspecificationdefinesthecriteriayouneedtousetojudgewhetherornotthecandidatehasmetthestandards.AllGradedUnitshavethefollowing:
