ThedogwasoneofeightfinalistsupfortheAmericanHeroDogandwaschosenasthewinnerthroughpublicvotes.Thefinalistsallwon$1,500tobedonatedtooneofAmericanHumaneAssociation’scharitypartners,withHarleyreceivinganother$5,000togotowardhischaritypartner,NewLeashOnLife.

Accordingtotherelease,Harleyspent10yearsatthepuppymill,andenduredroughtreatmentthere,whichledtohismanymedicalissues.Helosthiseyeasaresultofhiscagebeingpower-washedwithhiminside.
