Unit1Introduction

I.TheCambridgeBusinessEnglishCertificate(BEC)isaninternationalBusinessEnglishexamination,whichoffersalanguagequalificationforlearnerswhouse,orwillneedtouse,Englishfortheirwork.RecognitionofBECisincreasingrapidlyasagrowingnumberofcompaniesareusingtheexaminationasafocusforin-companytrainingcourses.

III.CambridgeBECPreliminaryisapracticalexaminationthatfocusesonEnglishinbusiness-relatedsituations.Themajoremphasisisonthedevelopmentoflanguageskillsforwork:

reading,writing,listeningandspeaking.

AllCambridgeBECPreliminarycandidatesreceiveastatementofresultsshowingtheiroverallgrade(PasswithMerit,Pass,NarrowFailorFail)andtheirstrengthsandweaknesses.Successfulcandidatesalsoreceiveacertificate.Eachpartrepresents25%ofthetotalmark.
