GeneralWorkEnvironment工作环境要求

Standard

Mustensurethatallareaswhereemployeesworkortravelarekeptclearofhazards.Allsurfacesmust

becleanandfreeofhazardsthatcouldinterferewithnormalactivities.

MinimumRequirements

1.Housekeeping

a.Mustensure:

i.Allplacesofemploymentarekeptascleanasthenatureoftheworkallows.

ii.Allaisles,emergencyexits,fireextinguishers,eyewash/showerstations,etc.arekeptclear,foraminimumof

threefeetoneitherside,ofproductstorage,materialstorage,forktrucksandpalletjacks（temporaryandpermanent）

atalltimes.

iii.Storageareasarekeptorderlyatalltimes.

iv.Spillsarecleanedupimmediatelyandwastedisposedofproperly.

v.Smokingisnotpermittedinsidebuildingsand/orwithin50’ofmaterialstorage.Thisincludesalloffices,rest

rooms,productionfloor,storageareas,coolers,etc.Smokingispermittedoutsideindesignatedareas.Toprevent

firesandkeepthegroundsneatandorderly,allcigarette/cigarashesandbuttsaretobedisposedintheprovidedbutt

cansorashtraysonly.

2.Exits

a.Mustprovideasafemeansofegressfromfireandotheremergencies.Theymustensure:

i.Exitsarearrangedandmaintainedtoprovidefreeandunobstructedegressfromallpartsofthebuildingorstructure

atalltimeswhenitisoccupied.Nolockorfasteningtopreventfreeescapefromtheinsideofanybuildingmaybe

installed.

ii.Everyexitmustbeclearlyvisibleandtheroutetoitmustbeconspicuouslyindicatedsothateveryoccupantof

everybuildingorstructurewhoisphysicallyandmentallycapablewillknowthedirectionofescapefromanypoint.

Eachpathofescapemustbearrangedormarkedsothatthewaytoaplaceofsafetyoutsidethebuildingis

unmistakable.Anydoorwayorpassagewaythatisnotanexitorwaytoreachanexit,butcouldbemistakenforan

exit,mustbearrangedormarkedtominimizepossibleconfusion.Peopletryingtoescapefiremustnotfind

themselvestrappedinadead-endspace,suchasacellarorstoreroom,fromwhichthereisnootherwayout.

iii.Ineverybuildingorstructurewhereafiremaynotitselfprovideadequatewarningtooccupants,firealarmsmust

beprovidedtowarnoccupantsoftheexistenceoffireandtofacilitatetheorderlyconductoffireexitdrills.

iv.Twoexitsapartfromeachothermustbeprovidedineverybuildingorstructure,section,orareawhereoccupants

wouldbeendangerediftherewasonlyoneexitthatcouldbeblockedbyfireorsmoke.Theexitsshouldbearranged

tominimizeanypossibilitythatbothmaybeblockedbyfireorotheremergency.

3.Illumination

a.Mustensure:

i.Thatadequate,well-balancedlightingisprovidedforsafeworkingconditions.Anyfactorthataidsvisual

effectivenessincreasestheprobabilitythatanemployeewilldetectthepotentialcauseofanaccidentandactto

correctit.

4.FloorandWallOpenings

a.Mustensure:

i.Astandardrailingandtoeboardguardseveryflooropening

ii.Everywallopeningfromwhichthereisadropofmorethan4’isguarded

iii.Everyopen-sidedfloororplatform4’ormoreaboveadjacentfloororgroundlevelmustbeguardedbyastandard

railingonallopensidesexceptwherethereisentrancetoaramp,stairway,orfixedladder.Therailingmustbe

providedwithatoeboardwhereverpersonnelcanpassbeneaththeopensides,thereismovingmachinery,orthere

isequipmentwithwhichfallingmaterialscouldcreateahazard.

iv.Everyflightofstairshavingfourormorerisersmustbeequippedwithstandardstairrailingsorstandardhandrails.

v.Astandardrailingmustconsistoftoprail,intermediaterail,andposts.

5.StairandStairways

a.Mustensurethesafedesignandconstructionoffixedgeneralindustrialstairs.Thisincludesinteriorandexterior

stairsaroundmachinery,tanks,andotherequipment,andstairsleadingtoorfromfloors,platforms,orpits.

b.Fixedstairwaysmusthaveaminimumwidthof22inches.

c.Alltreadsmustbereasonablyslip-resistantandthenosingsmustbeofnonslipfinish.Riseheightandtreadwidth

mustbeuniformthroughoutanyflightofstairsincludinganyfoundationstructureusedasoneormoretreadsofthe

stairs.

d.Stairwayplatformsmustbenolessthanthewidthofastairwayandaminimumof30inchesinlengthmeasured

inthedirectionoftravel.

e.Standardrailingsmustbeprovidedontheopensidesofallexposedstairwaysandstairplatforms.Handrailsmust

beprovidedonatleastonesideofclosedstairways,preferablyontherightsidedescending.

f.Verticalclearanceaboveanystairtreadtoanoverheadobstructionmustbeatleast7feetmeasuredfromtheleading

edgeofthetread.
