1.Scope
Thisstandarddealswiththesafetyofelectricalappliancesforhouseholdandsimilarpurposes,theratedvoltageofappliancesbeingnotmorethan250Vforsingle-phaseappliancesand480Vforotherappliances.
Appliancesmayincorporatemotors,heatingelementsortheircombination.
Appliancesnotintendedfornormalhouseholdusebutwhichneverthelessmaybeasourceofdangertothepublic,suchasappliancesintendedtobeusedbylaymeninshops,inlightindustryandonfarms,arewithinthescopeofthisstandard.
Note1–Examplesofsuchappliancesarecateringequipment,clearningappliancesforindustrialandcommercialuse,andappliancesforhairdressers.
Sofarasispracticable,thisstandarddealswiththecommonhazardspresentedbyapplianceswhichareencounteredbyallpersonsinandaroundthehome.
Thisstandarddoesnotingeneraltakeintoaccount
-Theuseofappliancesbyyoungchildrenorinfirmpersonswithoutsupervision;
-Playingwiththeappliancebyyoungchildren.

2.Attentionisdrawntothefactthat
-Forappliancesintendedtobeusedinvehiclesoronboardshipsoraircraft,additionalrequirementsmaybenecessary;
-Forappliancesintendedtobeusedintropicalcountries,specialrequirementsmaybenecessary;
-Inmanycountriesadditionalrequirementsarespecifiedbythenationalhealthauthorities,thenationalauthoritiesresponsiblefortheprotectionoflabour,thenationalwatersupplyauthoritiesandsimilarauthorities.
3.Thisstandarddoesnotapplyto
-Appliancesintendedexclusivelyforindustrialpurposes;
-Appliancesintendedtobeusedinlocationswherespecialconditionsprevail,suchasthepresenceofacorrosiveorexplosiveatmosphere（dust,vapourorgas）;
-Radioandtelevisionreceivers,recordplayersandsimilarequipment（IEC65）;
-Appliancesformedicalpurposes（IEC601）;
-Hand-heldmotor-operatedelectrictools（IEC745）;
-PersonalcomputersandsimilarequipmentI（IEC950）;
-Blankets,padsandsimilarflexibleheatingappliances（IEC967）;
-Electricfenceenergizers（IEC1011）;
-Transportablemotor-operatedelectrictools（IEC1029）.
2.Definition
Forthepurposeofthisstandard,thefollowingdefinitionsapply.
2.1Wherethetermsvoltageandcurrentareusedtheyimplyr.m.s.values,unlessotherwisespecified.
2.2.1ratedvoltage:
voltageassignedtotheappliancebythemanufacturer.
Note–forthree-phasesupplyitisthevoltagebetweenphases.
2.2.2ratedvoltagerange:
voltagerangeassignedtotheappliancebythemanufacturer,expressedbyitslowerandupperlimits.
2.3.1detachablecord:
flexiblecord,forsupplyorinterconnection,intendedtobeconnectedtotheappliancebymeansofasuitableappliancecoupler.
2.3.4typeXattachment:
methodofattachmentofthesupplycordsuchthatitcaneasilybereplaced.

2.3.6typeZattachment:
methodofattachmentofthesupplycordsuchthatitcannotbereplacedwithoutbreakingordestroyingtheappliance.Z連接:

2.3.7supplyleads:
setofwiresintendedforconnectingtheappliancetofixedwiringandaccommodatedinacompartmentwithinorattachedtotheappliance.
2.4.1basicinsulation:
insulationappliedtolivepartstoprovidebasicprotectionagainstelectricshock.

2.4.2supplementaryinsulation:
independentinsulationappliedinadditionaltothebasicinsulation,inordertoprovideprotectionagainstelectricshockintheeventofafailureofthebasicinsulation.

在基本絕緣失效時起防觸電保護作用,除基本絕緣外另外設置的獨立絕緣措施
2.4.3doubleinsulation:
insulationsystemcomprisingbothbasicinsulationandsupplementaryinsulation.
雙種絕緣:
由基本絕緣和輔助絕緣組成的絕緣系統
2.4.4reinforceinsulation:
singleinsulationappliedtoliveparts,whichprovidesadegreeofprotectionagainstelectricshockequivalenttodoubleinsulationundertheconditionsspecifiedinthisstandard.
增強型絕緣:
對帶電零件單獨所采取的提供深度防觸電保護的絕緣措施,在本標准說明情況下等同雙種絕緣。
Note–itisnoimpliedthattheinsulationisonehomogeneouspiece.Theinsulationmaycompriseseverallayerswhichcannotbetestedsinglyassupplementaryinsulationorbasicinsulation.注意:

2.4.5class0appliance:

2.4.6class0Iappliance:
appliancehavingatleastbasicinsulationthroughoutandincorporatingwithanearthingterminalbutwithasupplycordwithouteathingconductorandaplugwithoutearthingcontact.零一類器具:
至少有完整的基本絕緣和一個接地端子的器具,但是電源線沒有接地端子,插頭沒有接地插腳.
2.4.7classIappliance:
applianceinwhichprotectionagainstelectricshockdoesnotrelyonbasicinsulationonlybutwhichincludesanadditionalsafetyprecautioninthatconductiveaccessiblepartsareconnectedtotheprotectiveearthingconductorinthefixedwiringoftheinstallationinsuchawaythatconductiveaccessiblepartscannotbecomeliveintheeventofafailureofthebasicinsulation.一類器具:

2.4.8classIIappliance:

2.4.10classIIIappliance:

2.4.11classIIIconstruction:

2.4.12creepagedistance:

2.5.13clearance:
shortestdistancebetweentwoconductivepartsorbetweenaconductivepartandtheaccessiblesurfaceoftheappliance,measuredthroughair.

2.5.1extra-lowvoltage:
voltagesuppliedfromasourcedwithintheappliancewhich,whentheapplianceissuppliedatratedvoltagedoesnotexceed50Vbetweenconductorsandbetweenconductorsandearth.安全低電壓
2.5.2safetyextra-lowvoltage:
voltagenotexceeding42Vbetweenconductorsandbetweenconductorsandearth,theno-loadvoltagenotexceeding50V.
Whensafetyextra-lowvoltageisobtainedfromthesupplymains,itistobethroughasafetyisolatingtransformeroraconvertorwithseparatewindings,theinsulationofwhichcomplieswithdoubleinsulationorreinforcedinsulationrequirements.
