  Atpresent,theworldeconomyinslowrecoveryphase,stillfacesmanyuncertainties.Everycountryshouldundertaketopromotetheworldeconomicgrowth.Eachcountryisresponsibletoeliminatetradebarriers,andjointlypromotesustainedworldeconomicrecoveryanddevelopment.Inordertogainmoremarketshareandprofits,everycountryispositivelypromotingtheirgoodsacrosstheworld.Consequently,adstranslationisanessentialapproachfortheinternationalcommunicationofeconomyandculture.

  Asasocialculture,advertisementspossessbrightnationalfeatures.Becausedifferentcountry

  hasitsdistincthistory,custom,cultureandvalues,itissignificanttomaketheconsumersaroundtheworldclearofthenationalcultureandideologycontainedintheadvertisement.

  Intheprocessofadstranslation,domesticationmeansbringtheforeigncultureclosertothereaderinthetargetculture,andtranslatetheforeignwordsbylocalwayssoastomakethetextrecognizableandfamiliar.Theultimategoaloftheadvertisementistostimulatethecustomersandinspirethemintoabuyingimpulse.Inordertomakethecustomerofthetargetlanguageandthesourcelanguagegetthesameeffect,theappropriateapplicationofdomesticationisnecessary,anditwillmaketheadvertisementmoreeffective,raiseempathyamongthecustomers.Lastly,theultimateaimofthemanufacturewillbereached.

  Globalizationhaspromotedtheinternationalcommunicationandcombinationinculture.Intheprocessofadstranslation,foreignizationmeansmakingthetargetlanguagereadertravelabroadandseethedifferences.Foreignizationdesignatesthetypeoftranslationinwhichatargettext“deliberatelybreakstargetconventionsbyretainingsomethingoftheforeignnessofthe“original”(ShuttleworthCowie,1997:

59).Thedomesticationofadstranslationispopularwiththemostyoungsters,whoareopen-mindedandcourageoustoexperiencethenewthings,andsensitivetothefashion.Itcansatisfytheneedsoftheyoungsterstocontactwiththeouterworld.Atthesametime,

  .Domesticationisthestrategyofmakingtextcloselyconformtothecultureofthelanguagebeingtranslatedto,whichmayinvolvethelossofinformationfromthesourcetext.Foreignizationisthestrategyofretaininginformationfromthesourcetext,andinvolvesdeliberatelybreakingtheconventionsofthetargetlanguagetopreserveitsmeaning.Thesestrategieshavebeendebatedforhundredsofyears,butthefirstpersontoformulatethemintheirmodernsensewasLawrenceVenuti,whointroducedthemtothefieldoftranslationstudiesin1995withhisbookTheTranslatorsInvisibility:

  translations—ismediatedbythediverseculturalvaluesthatcirculateinthetargetlanguage.HeestimatesthatthetheoryandpracticeofEnglish-languagetranslationhasbeendominatedbysubmission,byfluentdomestication.Hestrictlycriticizedthetranslatorswhoinordertominimizetheforeignnessofthetargettextreducetheforeignculturalnormstotarget-languageculturalvalues.AccordingtoVenuti,thedomesticatingstrategy“violently”erasestheculturalvaluesandthuscreatesatextwhichasifhadbeenwritteninthetargetlanguageandwhichfollowstheculturalnormsofthetargetreader.Hestronglyadvocatestheforeignization

  strategy,consideringittobe“anethnodeviantpressureon[target-languagecultural]valuestoregisterthelinguisticandculturaldifferenceoftheforeigntext,sendingthereaderabroad.”Thusanadequatetranslationwouldbetheonethatwouldhighlighttheforeignnessofthesourcetextandinsteadofallowingthedominanttargetculturetoassimilatethedifferencesofthesourceculture,itshouldrathersignalthesedifferences.[3]
