Herfather,Otto,theonlysurvivoramongthosewhohidinAnnex,returnedtoAmsterdamafterthewar.Hewasdeeplymovedbyhisdaughter’descriptionsoflifeinAnnexandherfeelingsaboutherfamilyandotherresidents.Hedevotedtherestofhislifetosharingherstorywiththeworldsothatthesametragedythathappenedtohisfamilymightneverberepeated.Throughhercourage,herhope,andherunshakablefaithinthegoodnessofpeople,hershortlifeleftalonglegacy(遗产),touchingandinspiringgenerationaftergenerationofpeopleshenevermet.

“There’salotofmisinformationinourcommunities,”Montgomerysays.“Anditscarespeopleawayfromscience.Ifwecouldlimitsomeofthosemisunderstandingswhenthey’rekidsorwhentheirparentsarereadingwiththem,Ithinkthatwouldbeareallygoodimpact.”
