Introduction

1.1Scope

Thisdocumentcontainsahigh-leveldescriptionofthe3GPPRelease6Features.

AFeatureisdefinedasneworsubstantiallyenhancedfunctionalitywhichrepresentsaddedvaluetotheexistingsystem.Afeatureshouldnormallyembodyanimprovedservicetothecustomerand/orincreasedrevenuegenerationpotentialtothesupplier.

Featuresareasindependentaspossiblefromeachother,andrelationshipsbetweenfeatures（ifany）areclarifiedhere.

Insomecases,afeaturedoesnotcorrespondtoasinglefunctionalitybutconsistsinagroupingofdifferentindependentitemsimpactingthesamepartsofthesystem（e.g."Release6RANimprovements"）.ThesegroupingsareperformedtoartificiallylimitthetotalnumberoffeaturesforeachRelease.Forthese“basket”features,asummaryofeachitemisprovided.

Foreachfeature（orindependentitem）,referencesaregiventoguidethereaderonhowtodeepenthesubject:

theWorkItemDescription（WID）aswellasthelistofimpactedspecificationsareprovidedinthebeginningofthesectiondescribingthefeature.Onlythelistofimpactedspecificationsisprovidedhere.TheexactimpactonagivenspecificationduetoagivenfeatureisdescribedintheChangeRequest（CR）list,whichcanbefoundattheendofthespecification,orintheCRdatabase,whichprovidesthefulllistofCRsforall3GPPspecifications.
