Introduction
1.1Scope
Thisdocumentcontainsahigh-leveldescriptionofthe3GPPRelease6Features.
AFeatureisdefinedasneworsubstantiallyenhancedfunctionalitywhichrepresentsaddedvaluetotheexistingsystem.Afeatureshouldnormallyembodyanimprovedservicetothecustomerand/orincreasedrevenuegenerationpotentialtothesupplier.
Featuresareasindependentaspossiblefromeachother,andrelationshipsbetweenfeatures(ifany)areclarifiedhere.
Insomecases,afeaturedoesnotcorrespondtoasinglefunctionalitybutconsistsinagroupingofdifferentindependentitemsimpactingthesamepartsofthesystem(e.g."Release6RANimprovements").ThesegroupingsareperformedtoartificiallylimitthetotalnumberoffeaturesforeachRelease.Forthese“basket”features,asummaryofeachitemisprovided.
Foreachfeature(orindependentitem),referencesaregiventoguidethereaderonhowtodeepenthesubject:
theWorkItemDescription(WID)aswellasthelistofimpactedspecificationsareprovidedinthebeginningofthesectiondescribingthefeature.Onlythelistofimpactedspecificationsisprovidedhere.TheexactimpactonagivenspecificationduetoagivenfeatureisdescribedintheChangeRequest(CR)list,whichcanbefoundattheendofthespecification,orintheCRdatabase,whichprovidesthefulllistofCRsforall3GPPspecifications.

Aspecificationisoriginallydraftedandmaintainedbyarapporteur,whocompilesthecontentsfromdiscussionsintheWGsandTSGs.Whenitisconsideredtobe80%complete,itisbroughtunderaso-called"changecontrol"process.Afterthis,changestothespecificationcanonlybemadeusingChangeRequeststhatareusuallyagreedbyconsensusintheWorkingGroupresponsibleforthespecification,andthenformallyapprovedbytherele
