Duringthelast10yearsorso,however,TCMhasbeengettingincreasinglypopularallovertheworld.AreportreleasedbytheStateCouncilInformationOfficeonDec.6saysthisstyleofhealthcare,whichincludesdifferentformslikeherbalmedicineandexercise,hasspreadto183countriesandregions.

“Wehavesetup10TCMcentersoutsideChina,andallofthemarepopularamonglocals,”WangGuoqiang,headoftheStateAdministrationofTraditionalChineseMedicine,saidatanewsconferenceonDec6.“Governmentsof86countriesandregionshavesignedagreementswiththeChinesegovernmentonTCMcorporation.”

OneofthereasonsbehindthegrowingpopularityofTCMistheincreaseofscientificresearchintoit.AndafterTuYouyou-theChinesescientistwhodiscoveredtheanti-malaria(抗疟疾)drugqinghaosu(青蒿素)-wontheNobelPrizelastyear,TCMbecameevenmorefamousinternationally.

However,alltheseachievementsinTCMdon’tmeanthatit’sproblem-free.Overtheyears,TCMhasfacedchallengesinbeingabletoprovethatithascertaineffects.
