InordertouseEViews5onaspecificcomputer,youmustregisteryourcopyonthemachineusingtheserialnumberprintedonyourCD-ROMcaseorobtainedfromyourvolumelicenseadministrator.

WhatisRegistration?

EViewsregistrationistheone-timeprocessofassigningaserialnumbertoaspecificmachine,andsendingauniquemachineIDtoQMS.Thisisasimpleprocessthatcanbeperformedinafewseconds.

ThefirsttimeEViewsisrunonanewmachine,youwillbepromptedtoregisterthemachine.Youmaychoosetodosoimmediately,oryoucanputoffregistrationtoalaterdate,butyoumustregisterthemachinewithin30days.Ifyoudelayregistration,youwillbepromptedtoregisterthemachineeverytimeyoulaunchEViews.After30days,theunregisteredcopyofEViewswillnolongerrun.

TheEViewssingleuserlicensesallowforanindividualtohaveexclusiveuseofcopiesofEViewsresidingonmultiplemachines,orformultipleuserstohaveaccesstoacopyofEViewsresidingonasinglemachine.Forexample,asingleusermayinstallandregisterEViewsonhisorherofficecomputer,homecomputerandalaptopcomputer,providedthattheuseofEViewsisexclusive.Note,however,thatthelicensetermsdonotallowtwouserstoshareacopyofEViewsresidingonmorethanonemachine.

TofacilitatethelegitimateuseofEViewsonmultiplemachines,weallowasingleEViewssingleuserserialnumber（onebeginningwith"50A"or"50S"）tobeusedinregisteringuptothreemachines.Ifyouhaveexceptionalcircumstanceswhichrequireregistrationonadditionalmachines,pleasecontactouroffice.

NotethatthelicensingtermsdifferundertheEViewsVolumeLicenseagreement.Undertheseterms,eachmachinerunningEViewsmustbeassignedadistinctserialnumber.Licensingtheofficecomputer,homecomputerandlaptopcomputerofasingleuserwillrequirethreeseparateserialnumbers.

BecauseofthenatureoftheVolumeLicenseagreement,the"50C"（volume）licensenumberscannotbeusedtoregistermultiplemachines.

Onceregisteredonagivenmachine,EViews5willrunindefinitely.ThecopyofEViewsmaybeunistalledandreinstalledonthemachine,updated,ormovedtoadifferentdirectoryasdesiredwithoutreregisteringthecopyforthatmachine.If,however,amachine'sharddiskiswipedcleanorisreplaced,youmustreregister.Notethatinthislattercircumstance,reregistrationonthemachinewillnotcountasanadditionalregistration.

HowDoIRegister?

Beforestartingtheregistrationprocess,youshouldfirstlocatetheEViewsserialnumberthatisattachedtothecaseforyourCD-ROM.Youwillneedtoenterthisnumberintoyourcomputerduringtheregistrationprocedure.

Next,youshouldlaunchEViewsbydoubleclickingontheEViewsicon.IfthecopyofEViewsisnotregisteredforthemachine,EViewswillopenadialog,informingyouthatyourcopyofEViewsisnotregisteredforthismachine,displayingthenumberofadditionaldaysyourunregisteredcopywillcontinuetorun,andprovidingyouwiththreeoptionsforproceeding.

First,youcanchoosetodelayregistrationbyclickingontheIwillregisterlaterbutton.Ifyouselectthisoption,EViewswillclosethedialogandwilloperateintheusualfashion.YoucanuseyourcopyofEViewsjustasthoughitwereafullyregisteredcopyuntilthegraceperiodhasexpired.Oncethegraceperiodhasexpired,yourcopyofEViewswillnotrununtilitisregistered.

Alternatively,youcanchoosetoregisterinoneoftwoways:

youcanusetheEViewsautoregistrationfeatures（byclickingonAutoRegistration）,oryoucanmanuallyregister（byclickingonManualRegistration）.Selectingeitherofthelattertwooptionswillopenadialogpromptingyouforadditionalinformation.

AutoRegistration

IfyourcomputerisconnectedtotheInternet,theEViewsautoregistrationfeatureshouldmakeregistrationasnap.SimplyclickontheAutoRegistration...buttontoopenadialogcontainingtheregistrationinformation.

EViewswillfilloutasmanyfieldsinthisdialogaspossible.Ifyouwishtocontinuewiththeautoregistration,firstmakesurethattheSerial#andNameinformationarecorrect.Then,tocompletetheregistrationprocess,clickontheRegisternowbutton.EViewswilltrytocontactoneofourregistrationservers.Oncecontacted,theinformationcontainedinthedialogwillbesenttotheserver,andthemachinewillberegisteredtorunEViews.Ifsuccessful,youwillseeamessageindicatingthatregistrationwassuccessfullycompleted,alongwiththenumberofmachinesthathavebeenregisteredtotheserialnumber.

Ifyoudonotwishtocontinuewiththeautoregistration,clickontheExitwithoutregisteringbuttonandyouwillbereturnedtothemainregistrationscreen.
