Today,youngpeopleusing"ecstasytablets"semi-openlyatpartiesisnotararesceneinsomecities.Amongofficiallyregistereddrugaddicts,70percentareundertheageof35.Andthetypesofdrugstheyusearebecomingmoreandmorediverse.Manyfactorsareinvolvedsuchasteachinginschools,theroleofneighborhoodcommitteesandnon-governmentorganizations(NGOs),mentalhealthsupport,familyenvironmentandmediainfluence.

Theworldneedsawell-consideredpracticalapproachandcoordinatedeffortstomakeheadway.Therealitytodayisthatinmanyplaces,youngpeoplehaveverylimitedaccesstoknowledgeaboutdrugsalthoughdrugabuseandtraffickingarespreadingintheseareas.Inlargecitiesandrelativelyrichareas,manyoftheattemptswehaveseensofar,mainlyrepresentedbylecturesorpostersandshort-termcampaigns,aresuperficial.
