　　perfectedtheirartasthepersonalbodyguardsoftheemperor.theywerethe

　　chiefarchitectsoftheinvincibleimperialspaceforcewhichexpandedthe

　　empireacrossthegalaxy,fromthecelestialequatortothefarthestreaches

　　ofthegreatrift.

　　nowtheselegendarywarriorsareallbutextinct.onebyonetheyhavebeen

　　hunteddownanddestroyedasenemiesofthenewempirebyaferociousand

　　sinisterrivalwarriorsect,theknightsofsith.

　　asmallsilverspacecraftemergesfrombehindoneoftheutapaumoons.the

　　deadlylittlefightercraftspeedspastseveralofthemoons,untilitfinally

　　goesintoorbitaroundthefourthmoon.

　　2.wasteland-fourthmoon-utapau

　　aharshgaleblowsacrossthebleakgreysurfaceofthefourthmoon.the

　　leadenskypressesdownonalonefigure,annikinstarkiller,atall,heavy-

　　setboyofeighteen.heslowlymakeshiswayacrossthecanyonfloor.the

　　heavywindswhipathimandmakethegoingextremelydifficult.hisfaceis

　　coveredbyabreathmaskandgoggles.hestopsforasecondtoadjustthe

　　shoulderstraponhischromemultiplelaserrifle.somethinginthesky

　　catcheshiseye,andheinstinctivelygrabsapairofelectrobinocularsfrom

　　hisbelt.hestandstransfixedforafewmoments,studyingtheheavens,then

　　turnsandrushesbackinthedirectionfromwhichhecame.

　　3.supplyhut-fourthmoon-utapau

　　aspacecraft,halfburiedinthedust,restsnexttotheremainsofan

　　evilwarriorswingshismightylasersword,butannikinmanagestodeflectthe

　　intendeddeathblow.

　　finally,annikinisabletoassumeadefensivestance,andthetwowarriors

　　stand,sizingupeachother.theblackknightisatleastsevenfeettall,

　　anddwarfstheyoungjedi.theystandforafewmoments,almostfrozen,then

　　inaflurryofblows,laserswordsclashwiththesoundofelectricsnapping

　　andpopping.annikinisbarelyabletoholdhisownagainsttheexperienced

　　knight.manyblowsareexchangedbeforethesithwarriorisabletoback

　　annikinupagainstadeepcrevasse.annikinstumblesandalmostfallsover

　　theclifftohisdeath.

　　theblackknightsuddenlysensessomethingbehindhimandwhirlsaroundto

　　faceannikin'sfather,kanestarkiller,ajedibendumaster.thesithwarrior

　　raiseshislasersword,butiscutintwobeforehecanbringitdownagain.

　　intotheshallowdepression.thegiantenginesofthespacecraftbeginto

　　whine,kickinguplargecloudsofdust.
