首先要做的事指定一名医生来做手术。

类似结构有havetrouble/problem/difficulty（in）doingsth.

如：

我睡觉从来不认床。

按照这些技巧去做，你的技巧将会得到改善。

followingthesetips为动名词短语作主语，此外，动名词还可以作宾语、表语、定语等。
