•Itprovidesaforumofindependentexpertise.SpecialistCommitteesusemembers'
wide-rangingexpertise.TheEuropeanUnionCommittee'

EnergyintheFuture
Greatsourcesofenergyareneededifgovernmentswanttodevelopindustryandmakelifemorecomfortable.However,fuelswhichareusedtoproduceenergyatthemomentwillsoonrunout.Itseemscertainthatpeoplewillhavetodependonnuclearpowerasthesourceofenergy.Butalotofpeopledonotwantthisformofenergy;
theythinkitisdangerousandsowouldlikesomeothersourceofpower.Manysuggestionshavebeenmade;
someofthemarenotverypracticalbutotherscouldbeusedsuccessfully.
Peoplewhoareagainstnuclearpowerwouldratherusetheforcesofnature,forexamplethewind,thesea,theriversandthesun.Itisstrangetothinkthatthesesourcesofenergywereusedlongagoforwindmillsorforwatermillsbutthenwerealmostforgotten.Hydro-electricityisprobablythemostusedformofenergysuppliedbynature.Yetonlyasmallpartofthewaterenergywhichcouldbeusedisindeedused.IncountriessuchasBritain,America,CanadaandRussia,therearegreatpossibilitiesfordevelopinghydro-electricitybutonlyasmallnumberofgeneratorshavebeenbuilt.
Hydro-electricitycannotbedevelopedincertaincountries,however,becausemountainsorhillsareneededtogivethenecessaryforcetothewaterasitfalls.Morethanthree-quartersoftheearthiscoveredbythesea,whichisalwaysmoving.Themovementofthewaterdependsonthemoonwhichpullsattheearth.Theseamovesfirstinonedirectionandthenbackagain;
