Schoollifeisthethemeofthisunit.ThepurposesofthisunitaretolearnaboutschoollifeintheUK,toidentifythedifferencesbetweenschoollifeintheUKandinChina,toenlargethevocabularyaboutschoolfacilities,andtorecognizeattributiveclauses,includingdesigningaposterforanewschoolclub.InWelcometotheunit,thestudentswillbepresentedwithfourdifferentaspectsofschoollifeintheUKandareaskedtocomparethedifferencesbetweenhighschoolsintheUKandinChina.TheReadingtextdealswithanarticlefromaschoolmagazine,whichgivesusspecificinformationaboutwhatschoollifeintheUKisreallylike.WordPowerfocusesonwordsandphrasesrelatedtoschoolfacilities,withrelevantexercisestostrengthenthestudents’abilitytousethesephrases.InGrammarandUsage,thestudentswilllearnwhatanattributiveclauseisandwhatrelativepronounsandrelativeadverbsfunctionasinthisclause.Theywilllearninwhatcircumstancesthat,which,who,whomorwhoseareused.FollowingistheTasksectiondealingwithreportingschoolactivities,inwhichstudentswillpracticethelanguageskillsoflistening,speaking,reading,andwriting.Theywilllearnhowtotalkaboutschoolactivitiesandwriteanoticeaboutoneofthem.IntheProjectsection,studentswillbeaskedtoreadtwotextsaboutschoolclubsanddesignanattractiveposterforanewschoolclub.Intheself-assessmentsection,thestudentsaresupposedtoranktheirconfidencelevelondifferentskillswiththehelpofthechartonpage20first,andthentheycanmakeplanstoimprovesomeparts,withwhichtheyhavesomedifficulty.Ifpossible,thestudentscanturntotheteacherortheirclassmatesforhelp.
