activeclampontheVCnodeprovidescurrentlimit.

agesourcetoaloweroutputvoltageusinganinductorfor
energystorage.TheLT1616usesitsinternalpowerswitch
andanexternalcatchdiode(D1oftheapplicationcircuit
onthefirstpageofthisdatasheet)toproduceapulse-
widthmodulatedsquarewave.InductorL1andoutput
capacitorC2filterthissquarewavetoproduceaDCoutput
voltage.Anerroramplifierregulatestheoutputbycom-
paringtheoutput(dividedbythefeedbackresistorstring
R1andR2)toaninternalreference.TheLT1616uses
currentmodecontrol;
insteadofdirectlymodulatingthe
pulsewidth,theerroramplifiercontrolsthepeakcurrent
intheswitchandinductor.Currentmodecontro
