　　China’sStateAdministrationofRadioFilmandTelevision（SARFT）recentlyissuedanoticebanningdomesticradioandTVstationsfromtranslatingforeignradioandTVprogrammesintoanylocaldialect.ThenoticesaidthatsuchdialecttranslationcontradictsthenationalinitiativetopromotePutonghua,orMandarin,aroundthecountry.Foreignprogrammesthathavebeentranslatedintodialectsmustberemovedfromtelevisionandradioimmediately.Thenoticeevokedamixedresponsefromexpertsandaudioandvideoproducers,aswellasthegeneralpublic.Manyvoicedtheirconcernsthatlocaldialectswouldbeforniddeninpublicplaces.Mandarian,whichmeans"

commonlanguage"

isthecountry’spredominantlanguageandiswidelyusedbymorethan70percentofthepopulation.However,localdialectsstillenjoypopularityforrelativelyless-educatedpeopleinsomeoccasions.Thedialectsdomakeuniqueroleandshouldbetoleratedforexistenceinpublicplaces.

WhatIHaveLearnedFromMyYearsatUniversity

Thedevelopmentofanindividualhumanexistencecanbedividedintoseveralimportantstages.Butnoperiodcanbemoreinfluentialuponthelatercourseofourlifethantheyearswehaveexperiencedincollege.Hereisthecradleofintelligentsiawithvision,missionandpassion.Andnow,asIamreadytoleavecampusandfacetherealworld,Idaresaythatnootherplacecanteachmemore.

IamveryproudthatinuniversityIhavelearnthowimportantitisforonetohavevision,thatabilitytoseeaheadoftimeand 

possiblyothers.Collegehasraisedmeup,sothatIcouldenjoyabroaderviewoftheworld.UniversityLibrary,thesanctuaryofmindalwayskeepsmeinaclosetouchwiththegreatthoughtsofgiants,Shakespeare,Russell,Churchill,Roosevelt,tonameonlyafew.All

here.Thesegreatmindsteachmehowtoliveameaningfullife.Theywarnmethatthelastbutgreatestenemyformankindishumanexistenceitself.Theirwordsofwisdomshallguideandguardmetoovercomealltheobstaclesbesetinthecourseofmylife.Inthelightofthisstatement,Ihavetosaythatcollegeyearshavebrightenedupmyvision.

ItisatuniversitythatIhaveacquiredanaddedunderstandingofthemeaningofmissioni.e.manshouldhaveshouldersstrongenoughtotakemoreresponsibilitiesofthetime.Collegehasenrichedme,sothatI,tosomeextent,havediscoveredthetruthtoliveby.

ItisaftersomeyearsatuniversitythatIhavebetterapprehendedToynbeewhenhesaid,“Glorybelongstothosewhoareactuallyinthearena,fightingpassionatelywhilstshowingeverynowandthenmistakesorshortcomings.”Ihaveunderstoodthespiritoftranscendingmyself,sometimeseveninacrazyway.Ifyouthisthefreshnessofthedeepspringsoflife,thencollegemustbethefountainofpassion.Itcheersinthechaosofgym;

ithidesinthesilenceoflab.Duringthecollegeyears,Ineverstoppedpursuingmyowndream,becauseIneverfailtobeinspiredbytheflowingcurrentofyoungpassion.

Firstofalltrueandlastingfriendshipisbuiltoncommonvaluespursuitsorhobbiesratherthansimilarincomes.Friendsarethosewhoagreewithyourlifeviewsandsticktothesomeprinciplesthosewhoencourageyouwhenyoulackconfidenceinmeetingchallengesandpursuingyourdreamorthosewhoshareyourinterestsandappreciateyourtastes.Indeedwhatstrengthenstheseemotionalbondsbetweenyouandyourpalsisnotthesameamountofwealthbutspiritualcommonalities.Ofcoursewithsimilarfinancialbackgroundsyouwillprobableknowbetterabouteachother'
