Childrenwhosufferfromsleepwalkingfacetheconditioninwhichthebodycanmoveeventhoughthebrainishalfasleep.Sleepwalkerscommonlygetoutofbedandroam(闲逛)alloverthehouse.Someofthemevengetdressedandleavethehouse.Sleepwalkers’eyesremainopen,andtheycanseewhatisinfrontofthem.However,theirexpressionsareblankandthey’reunabletorespondeithertoconversationortotheirnamesbeingcalledout.Childrensufferingfromsleepwalkingdon’thaveanyideaabouttheirwalkanddon’tknowanydirectioninwhichthey’removing.

Sleepwalkinginchildrenisapoorlydevelopedsleep/wakecycle.Innormalcircumstances,theentirebrainawakesatthesametime.Asleepwalker’sbrain,however,isdifferentinthesensethatonlyaportionofitwakesupatatime.Theportionofthebrainthatmanagesmobilityawakenswhiletheportionthatdealswithcognitionandawarenessisstillasleep.Asleepwalkingchildisactuallyfastasleepanddoesn’thaveanyideaofthesleepwalkingsessioninthesleep.Childrensleepwalkingisthesymptomofdisorderinchildrenduetoimproperdietorotherhealthproblemslikeweaknessandstressamongthechildren.

Certainprecautionsshouldbetakentoprotectsleepwalkersfromdangeroussituations.Makesurethatsleepwalkingchildrenareinasafeplaceduringtheirsleepwalkingsessions.Takecaretoensurethattheywillnotgetinjuredduringasleepwalkingsession.Parentsshouldnotkeepanysharporfragileobjectsinachild’sroom.Lockthedoorofasleepwalker’sroomtopreventhimorherfromventuringoutatnight.Fixingabelltoalertaparentorcaregiverifachildgoesoutoftheroomisagreatidea.Largeglassdoorsorwindowsshouldbecoveredbyheavycurtainstopreventsleepwalkersfromtryingtowalkthroughthemduringtheirsleepwalkingsessions.Childrenwhosleepwalkshouldbegivenampleprotectiontilltheyovercomethisdisorder.Thereisapossibilityofthemrunningintodangeroussituationsduringtheirsleepwalkingsessions.
