1.IntroductionInrecentyearstherehasbeenincreasingconcernabouttheenvironmentaleffectsontheplaofhumanactivity.

Thatiswhyithashadabincreasingamountofattentioninthepopularpress,ingovernmentalagendas,intheacademicliteratureandfromthegeneralpublic.

Stakeholdersareincreasinglypressuringfirmstoassumeresponsibilityforanynegativeeffectstheirbusinessactivitiesmightcauseaswell.

TheresultsarethatfirmsareconsideringtheincorporationofenvironmentalthinkingintotheirbusinessstrategiesinPolishpanies（Romanowska,20__4）.

2.GreenlogisticsandsustainabledevelopmentTypically,logisticsisseenastheactionsofwhichtheobjectiveistominimizecostsandma_imizeprofits.

Thetermwasusedmostlyinpurelybusinessarease_hibitingpaniesandinfinancialreports.

But,formanyyears,thetermlogisticswasusedinconjunctionwiththe“green”bycreating“GreenLogistics”-thetermcontainingcosts,yetdidnotearonfinancialreportsandontheenvironmentandsociety.

Theterm“greenlogistics”isdefinedassupplychainmanagementpracticesandstrategiesthatreducetheenvironmentalandenergyfootprintoffreightdistribution,whichfocusesonmaterialhandling,wastemanagement,packagingandtransport（Rodrigueetal.,20__）.

Greenlogisticsconsistsofallactivitiesrelatedtotheeco-efficientmanagementoftheforwardandreverseflowsofproductsandinformationbetweenthepointoforiginandthepointofconsumptionwhosepurposeistomeetore_ceedcustomerdemand（Mesjasz-Lech,2021）.

LeeKlassen（2021）describegreenlogisticsasGreenSupplyChainManagementthatcanbedefinedasanorganizationsactivitytakingintoaccountenvironmentalissuesandintegratingitintosupplychainmanagementinordertochangetheenvironmentalperformanceofsuppliersandcustomers（LeeKlassen,2021）.

Greenlogisticsactivitiesinclude

measuringtheenvironmentalimpactofdifferentdistributionstrategies,reducingtheenergyusageinlogisticsactivities,reducingwasteandmanagingitstreatment（SibihiEglese,2021）.

Fromthesustainabledevelopmentpointofview,greenlogisticscanbedefinedas,“producinganddistributinggoodsinasustainableway,takingaccountofenvironmentalandsocialfactors”（SibihiEglese,2021）.

ThisbroaddefinitionofgreenlogisticsisinlinewiththeWCED（1987）definitionofsustainabledevelopmentanddefinitionsofcorporateresponsibility（LyonMa_well,2021）.

ThethreepillarsofSustainableDevelopmentcanbeliedtogreenlogistics（seeFigure1）.

Asmentionedinthedefinitionsofgreenlogisticsbefore,inthepast,paniescoordinatedtheirlogisticsactivitiesprisingfreighttransport,warehousing,packaging,materialshandlinganddatacollectionandmanagementtomeetcustomerrequirementsatminimumcostwhichjustreferstothemoaryterms（Nowakowska-Grunt,2021）.

Now,theenvironmenthasbeeaconcern.

Itistreatedasafactorofthecost.

Somepanieshavealreadytakene_ternalcostsoflogisticsassociatedespeciallywiththeenvironmentalissuessuchasclimatechange,pollutionandnoiseintoaccount.

Greenlogisticsisthereforedefinedaseffortstoe_aminewaysofreducingthesee_ternalitiesandachievingamoresustainablebalancebetweenenvironmental,economicandsocialobjectives,（seeFigure1）.

Alleffortsinthe“green”logisticsareaarethereforefocusedoncontributingtowards,andensuring,sustainability（Hans,2021）.

Overthepast40years,“GreenLogistics”hasrepresentedalotofnaturetrails,themostdistinguishableasfollows:

Thegreenlogisticsrepresentsalsothreeperspectives:

public（publictoprivate）,operational（operationaltostrategic）andlocal（localtoglobal）.

Thefirstperspectiveofgreenlogisticsrelatestopressuregroupswhichbegantolobbygovernmentinterventiontomitigatethedamagingeffectsoffreightmovementandpublicagenciessoughttoimprovetheirunderstandingoftheproblemandfindmeansofaddressingit.

Thepublicsectorinterestinthissubjecthasbeenplementedbyagrowthintheprivatesectorinvolvementingreenlogisticsresearchasbusinesshasbeguntoformulateenvironmentalstrategiesbothatacorporatelevelandmorespecificallyforlogistics.

Operationaltostrategicasasecondgeneraltrendhasbeenabroadeningofthecorporatemitmenttogreenlogistics,fromtheadoptionofafewminoroperationalchangestotheembeddingofenvironmentalprinciplesinstrategicplanning.

Localtoglobalperspectiveisfocusedonthelocalenvironmentalimpactofairpollution,vibration,noise,accidentsandvisualintrusion.

Withclimatechangenowthedominantenvironmentalissueoftheage,theimpactoflogisticsonglobalatmosphericconditionshasbeeamajorfocusofmanyresearchers（McKinnonA.,BrowneWhiteing,2021）.

3.Greenlogisticsandreverselogistics

Itisworthmentioningaboutthereverselogisticswhichisapartofgreenlogistics.

RogersandTibben-Lembke（1999）brieflyconsiderthedifferencesbetweenreverselogisticsandgreenlogistics.

Inreverselogisticsthereshouldbesomeflowofproductsorgoodsbackfromtheconsumertoanearlierstageofthesupplychain.

Thereductionofwastethatthisimpliescertainlymeansthatreverselogisticsshouldbeincludedwithingreenlogistics.

Currently,theterm“greenlogistics”isoftenusedinterchangeablywith“reverselogistics”,butincontrasttothereverselogistics,greenlogistics“summarizeslogisticsactivitiesthatareprimarilymotivatedbyenvironmentalconsiderations”（Scott,LundgrenThompson,2021）.

Firstofall,themostsignificantdifferenceisthatreverselogisticsconcentratesonsavingmoneyandincreasingvaluebyreusingorresellingmaterialstorecoverlostprofitsandreduceoperationalcosts.

Inturngreenlogisticsfocusesontransportationissues,recyclingandre-use.

Byunderstandingtheconsumersimportantroleingreenlogisticsitcanbebeneficialforthepany.

Perhapsthebiggestaffectfromcustomersmaybehomedelivery,astheyarethedirectusersofthisservice.
