Abstract:

NCEPADPGlobalSurfaceObservationalWeatherDataarecomposedofsurfaceweatherreportsoperationallycollectedbytheNationalCentersforEnvironmentalPrediction（NCEP）.ThedataincludeslandandmarinesurfacereportsreceivedviatheGlobalTelecommunicationsSystem（GTS）.Variablesrecordedinthereportsincludepressure,airtemperature,dewpointtemperature,winddirectionandspeed.PrecipitationdatahasbeendecodedfortheU.S.andCanada.Reportintervalsrangefromhourlyto3hourly.ThesedataaretheprimaryinputtotheNCEPGlobalDataAssimilationSystem（GDAS）.

NCEPADPGlobalUpperAirObservationalWeatherDataarecomposedofglobalupperairweatherreportsoperationallycollectedbytheNationalCentersforEnvironmentalPrediction（NCEP）.Theseincluderadiosondes,pibalsandaircraftreportsfromtheGlobalTelecommunicationsSystem（GTS）,andsatellitedatafromtheNationalEnvironmentalSatelliteDataandInformationService（NESDIS）.Thereportscanincludepressure,geopotentialheight,airtemperature,dewpointtemperature,winddirectionandspeed.Datamaybeavailableatupto20mandatorylevelsfrom1000millibarsto1millibar,plusafewsignificantlevels.Reportintervalsrangefromhourlyto12hourly.ThesedataaretheprimaryinputtotheNCEPGlobalDataAssimilationSystem（GDAS）,whichisusedtocreatetheNCEPFinalTroposphericAnalyses（FNL）.
