ProfessorKatariinaSalmela-Aro,wholedthestudy,said,“Couragemeansayoungpersonisreallyinterestedinhisorherstudiesanddoesnotgiveupeasily.Akeyelementofcourageishighperseverancewhenfacingdifficultiesandhardships.Theimportantfindingisthatthesefactorsarethekeytosuccessandwell-being.Ourstudyshowsthepowerofcourage.”

ProfessorSalmela-Aroalsothinksitisimportanttodevelopnewpracticesandqualitiestoimprovecourageinteenagers.Sheadded,“Youngpeopleshouldseeeverydayschoolworkaspartoftheirlifeinabroadercontextandestablishachievablegoalsforthemselves.Schoolsmustalsoserveasaplacewhereitissafetofailandlearntodealwithsetbacks.Onemustnotbediscouragedbysetbacks,butdrawstrengthandnewenergyfromthem!
