Herteamcollectedstarttimesfor362Canadianschools.Thentheyaskedstudentsatthoseschoolstogivetheirheightandweight.Inall,theycollecteddatafromnearly30,00010to18-year-olds.Among6th-to10th-graders,thosewhostartedschoolearlierwerelikelytobeslightlyheavierfortheirheight.Every10-minutedelayinschoolstarttimewasconnected,onaverage,withalightlylowerweightamongstudentswhowerethesamesex,ageandheight.However,thedifferenceisslight.Healthyeatingandgettingenoughexercisewillplayabiggerroleinkeepingahealthyweight.
