Scottpointedtothemagiccrystalsinthemadscientist’shand.

“Oh,right.”Glenrolledhiseyes.“Swimmingmonkeysfrommagiccrystals.Idon’tthinkso.”

“Yea,well,theysayit’sguaranteed.Oryougetyourmoneyback,”Scottsaid.”Theywouldn’tsaythatifitdidn’twork.

ButScottdidn’thaveasinglestorytotell.Notone.Which,whenyouthinkofit,wastheweirdestthingofall.BecauseeveryoneknewthatifyoulivednearFearStreet,scarythingshappenedtoyou.Period.

“Well,I’mgettingthem,”Scottinsisted,grabbingthecomicbookoutofGlen’shands.

Soget’em,”Glenanswered.Heshovedhiscurlybrownhairoffhisforehead.

“Iwill,”Scottassureshim.“Assoonasyoulendmesomemoney.”

“I’mnotpayingforsomestupidwatermonkeys.You’retheonewhowantsthem.”

“I’mnotaskingyoutopayforthem.Justthepostageandthehandling,”Scottsaid.“AndIwouldn’tevenaskyouforthat.ButyoudideatuphalfofmyallowanceyesterdayattheIceCreamCastle.Remember—yoursundaetocelebratethelastdayofsummervacation?

“Okay,okay,”Glensaid.Thenhestuckhisfingersintohismouthandmadegaggingsounds.“I’llgiveitbacktoyou.”

”ScottslidawayfromGlenasfastashecould.ThelasttimeGlenpulledthisstuntherallydidthrowup.“Justforgetit,”Scottsaidmiserably.

“Oh,allright,”Glengroaned.“I’llpayforhalf.”

Glenreachedintohispocketandpulledouthismoney.HecountedoutthreedollarsandshoveditintoScott’shand.“Goahead.Ordertheswimmingmonkeys.Butwhenthemagiccrystalsdon’tcometolife,I’mnotwaitingforthisstupidcompanytosendmymoneyback.You’regonnagiveittome.”

“Fine,”Scottagreed.“Butwhatiftheydocometolife?

“ThenI’llbeamonkey’suncle.”Glencrackedhimselfup.”Getit?

“Ha,ha,”Scottsaid,notatallamusedbyGlen’slamejoke.“You’llsee.”

Inafewweeks,I’llfinallyhaveacoolstorytotellatschool,Scottthought.Andmaybeevenscary,too.
