TheorganizationOuachitaGreenputtogetherthisevent,whichallowedpeoplefromtheMonroeareaofLouisianatobringintheirrecyclables,freeofcharge.Unfortunately,Louisianaislackinginenvironmentally-friendlyinitiatives（倡议）sorecyclingisnotofferedtomostpeopleinourcommunity.Incontrast,itisrequiredbylawtorecyclebackinmyhomeNewJersey.Thistruthastonishedme,butmoreimportantly,itencouragedmetoseekchange.

Imeanttomakeadifference.Throughjointefforts,myclassmatesandIendedupstartingtheGreenClubattheUniversityofLouisiana.ItfocusesoncreatingagreenattitudewithintheuniversityandthegreaterMonroearea.Whileworkingonit,Imetagroupofambitioushighschoolstudents,whosharedthesameconcernabouttheenvironmentasus.Whiletalking,wedecidedthatworkingtogetherwouldbenefitnotonlytheorganizationsatourschools,butalsothecommunityasawhole.Isweletthecommunityknowweareserious,thereisanevenbetterchancethatwewillsucceedandinfluenceothers.
